Original pencil drawing on paper by John Shelton dated Dec 1975.
Signed in pencil Shelton 75. A further date is at the bottom of the drawing Dec 75.
Titled: Nude and Satyr
The drawing includes a nude female seated very confidently in a living room domestic setting next to a fireplace with mantle, clock and figures.
A table in foreground includes coffee pot and cups with a large sugar bowl suggesting a meeting.
The nude is facing a figure of a classical statue of a naked half man half goat, a Satyr.
A painting in the background is of one of the artist's known paintings titled "The Pigeon Flyer".
The artist is also have known to made classical ceramic figures of Minotaurs and Centaurs, so to have a statue of a Satyr (half Man half Goat) could also be expected.
This pencil drawing made of a moment captured in the artist's home or indeed in a collector of John Shelton's artworks home.
A "no9" is on the back of the drawing suggesting it may be part of a bigger collection.
A very interesting and even autobiographical work by the artist giving an interesting insight into the artist's life or imagined world.
