Rob Pointon ROI (b. 1982)
Painted at the Queens Funeral, the final trooping of the Colour of HM Queen Elizabeth and for the 2 years previously, Rob Pointon from Staffordshire finds himself painting the very upmost scenes of British society yet this humble Stokie describes himself as painting in oil from life including urban, landscape and figurative painter working in oils completely en-plein air (on the easel, with the subject in front of him).
Rob Pointon has been described as one of the most exciting British oil painters producing today. Multi award winning and elected ROI member, currently 2021 to 2022 working on a series of paintings as Artist in Residence for The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment based in London, which was followed by a major London solo show.
Residencies including at The Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich documenting in oil paintings the Conservation of Sir James Thornhill’s masterpiece; The Painted Hall, and selected as artist in residence for Manchester Airport - the first of its kind in the UK. From 2016 to 2019 Rob travelled the world and brought his paintings to display at the airport for sale.
He is collected by numerous collectors internationally with a number of Northern art admirers and shows in a number of galleries across the UK.
Originally born on the outskirts of Stoke-on-Trent, Barewall are delighted to have been working with Rob since when he first set-up his easel painting the streetscapes of Burslem in Stoke on Trent in 2006 aged 24.
Rob lived above the gallery in Burslem twice. First during his early career (2006-7) and then after "The Year of The Boat" exhibition (2013-2014) with his wife Karen.
