Forever Young poems by Kathleen Roberts
Forever Young
Poems by Kathleen Roberts.
For you, my 'forever young' friend
Forever Young is a posthumous poetry collection in celebration of award-winning poet, Kathleen Roberts, compiled by Linda K Nixon.
If dreams could be chosen
And myths reasoned through
Unicorns, nightingales -
People too, would cease to exist.
We are all a figment
If someone's imagination.
About The Poet
Kathleen ROBERTS born in Stoke on Trent in 1947, was an acute observer of 'The Potteries' physical, cultural and emotional landscape. Manifesting a keen interest in the arts, she studied at Portland House, Burslem and went on to complete a BA (Hons.) degree at Keele University in the late 1970's where she spent 4 years reading English Literature and American Studies while raising her two young sons. Its was here that her interest in poetry really flourished and she began to write not only poetry but essays and short stories.
Following Keele came a period of teaching English to teenagers in a local school, and later to inmates at 'Drake Hall' women's prison.
In the 1980's she began studies in psychology and counselling and established her own consulting practice from her Basford home. She continued her practice, working with ex-pats, while living in her second home in Andalusia, Spain.
in 2005 she travelled to Philadelphia to collect the $20K first prize in 'The National Society of Poets' annual competition for her poem 'Dark Land of Light', and was later published in the 'Artemis' poetry magazine.
Of her work, she said: 'I write poems on all kinds of subjects - if something moves me I want to write about it. I write about places, people, events - anything that has an impact on me.'
