This painting is likely to have been painted at his address and studio at 8 King Street, Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire while Gordon Mitchell Forsyth was head of Art for Stoke-on-Trent, based at Burslem School of Art.
Gordon Forsyth is also famously known for his works with Pilkingtons and Lancastrianware. His lustre hand painted pieces are highly collected and very sought after. He was an instrumental figure in bringing art education and industry together in the Potteries including through the war years.
