This is a very rare very early CW Brown original 1927 painting now available for sale, by CW Brown. Most of the collection of paintings can be found at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery.
The titled relates to an artist John Sell Cotman (1782 - 1842) who was an English painter, illustrator and engraver. He was in the circle of JW Turner and seemed mostly to be trained and based in the Norwich area. Its unclear why CW Brown might have been drawn to this artist although exhibitions of his work did continue into the 20th century. Currently Leeds Art Gallery are working on a catalogue of his work online which can be found online at https://cotmania.org/
